There has been an increase in the number of measles cases reported nationally this year and an outbreak occurred recently in Leeds during 2017/18, involving 34 confirmed cases. Currently there is also an ongoing outbreak in Bradford. In recent days Public Health England have also noted spread to Harrogate, Hebden Bridge, Barnsley and Leeds.
Measles is one of the most highly infectious communicable diseases and can be very serious to patients with a low immune system, pregnant women and unvaccinated infants.
