If you are on regular medication for a long time, the doctor may decide to put the repeat prescription onto the computer system.
The prescription you receive will have a list of your ‘repeat’ medications on the right hand side which is on a tear off slip.
Ordering a repeat prescription:
When you need another prescription please use the right half of the prescription, ticking the boxes to indicate the medications you need in the relevant box, and post it in the black post box in the porch area at Sothall. The prescription will be ready to usually be ready to collect from reception two working days later.
You can request your repeat prescriptions by telephone. In order to free-up the phone lines for patients requesting urgent appointments however, we would ask that prescription requests are made after 10.30.
You may post the right side of the prescription (tear-off slip) to us, again indicating the prescriptions you require and, if you send a stamped, addressed envelope, we will post it back to you. Remember the post may take a few days.
You can arrange to order your prescriptions online via the link at the top of this page. Please ask at reception about how to set this up. We will need you to have photo ID (passport or driving licence) to verify your identity before you are issued with a username and password to access the online system.
To ensure that you are on the best possible combination of medications for your condition, and that troublesome side effects are reduced, we will periodically ask you to attend for a medication review. It is also important for us to ensure that your condition is properly controlled and this offers us an opportunity to do this and answer any questions you may have.
Some medications, although helpful for your condition, can have an adverse affect on other organs such as the kidney and liver or stomach. Medication reviews allow us to check these unwanted and potentially damaging effects. Reviews normally take place annually, but can be 6 monthly or more frequently in some cases. You will note that your repeat prescription has a review date on it and we would ask that you book for a review in advance of this to avoid problems with continuing your prescription.
Please allow two full working days for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account.
