Appointments

We aim to ensure that the right patient is seen by the right member of the practice team, at the right time. We therefore, offer a range of different appointment types to accommodate the different and changing needs of our practice population.

Pre-bookable appointments

With the exception of doctor appointments, please try to ring after 9.30am, to book a pre-bookable appointment, to leave the phone lines available for more urgent cases.

Doctor Appointments

Patients with chronic (more long term) conditions, who do not need to be seen that day, will have the opportunity to book up to 1 week ahead, depending on availability. In order to keep appointments for more urgent cases however, it is necessary to limit the number of these pre-bookable appointments. It is possible, at the time you call, that all these slots have been booked by other patients.

Nurse appointments

Our nurses have extensive experience in managing chronic diseases such as Asthma, Diabetes, Heart Disease and chronic lung disease (COPD), and will be able to review these with you on a 12 or 6 monthly basis and occasionally, if needed, more frequently. Our nursing team is able to provide a number of other services including family planning, cervical smears, immunisations for travel, B12 and other injections.

Phlebotomy (Blood – Taking) appointments

If you are advised to have a blood test by one of our clinical team, you can book an appointment with one of our phlebotomists. As samples are collected at lunchtime, these appointments are only available in the mornings.

Health Care Assistant (HCA) appointments

We have a HCA working as part of the team. They are trained in phlebotomy, Blood Pressure monitoring, and some injection treatments. The also offer a very successful 1:1 support program, for those patients who wish to stop smoking, including nicotine replacement.

Appointments on the same day

Telephone appointments (Doctor Triage 08.30 - 10.30 times are subject to change with demand)

When requesting an appointment for that day, the receptionist will ask you whether the problem is something that can be dealt with over the phone. If so, then you will be offered an opportunity to be called back by the duty doctor that morning to discuss your problem. This will stop an unnecessary trip to surgery for you and also allows them to allocate ‘same day’ doctor appointments for those who need them most. The doctor will also be able to arrange for you to be seen on another day or by a nurse if that is more suitable.

This service will also be offered to any patients who feel that they need to be seen that day, if all the ‘on the day’ appointments have been booked by other patients.
PLEASE NOTE THIS SERVICE IS ONLY AVAILABLE BEFORE 10:30. If you call after this time, it is possible that you will be asked to call the following day, unless it is a medical emergency.

If it is deemed appropriate, you may be offered an appointment at one of four GP access centres across Sheffield 6pm-10pm weekdays and 10am-6pm weekends.

Doctor Appointments

For patients needing to see a doctor on the day, we will have done our best to ensure that appointment slots are available, and you will be offered one of these. If all these have been booked, by other patients, you will be offered the opportunity to have the duty doctor call you back to assess the nature and urgency of your problem and agree the most appropriate way forward.

Physician Associate appointments

Our Physician Associate is available to see patients who book an appointment on the same day.  You may be offered an appointment to see Ria, who is a highly trained Physician Associate who can perform a number of roles including: taking medical histories, performing examinations, analysing test results and diagnosing illnesses under the direct supervision of a doctor.

Nurse Minor Illness Appointments

Some of our nurses have training in the management of minor illnesses. If you feel that your condition would be suitable, please ask the receptionist to see if one of these appointments is available.

Cancellations

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
